Log #23

Today went great! My partner Olivia and I began the class with looking up examples of past robots and attempting to figure out how to make our claw rotate as much as we need it to. There were quite a few videos but none with the exact type of robotic claw we wanted. On the contrary, if there was a video with the type of robot claw we wanted to mimic, the video camera was at an angle that prohibited us from being able to see how said claw was made. This was very frustrating to us. As a result, we decided the next best thing would be to fiddle around with the robot in an attempt to reach the desired outcome. We were very happy with our results. We devised a system using bars and gears rotating on top of each other and connected a 2-wire 269 motor to make the gears/bars rotate. Unfortunately, I realized soon after that we had been so preoccupied with getting the motor to rotate the gears and attaching gizmos onto our robot that we realized we did not make an actual arm to go on said gears. This will require us to backtrack all the success we thought we had made, but it will eventually be worth it.
